First of all, let me start by saying there are SIX of you who continue to check this site on a daily basis and I just LOVE you for that. That's dedication. Thank you!
Second of all, I haven't written because I don't want to be a broken record.
Yup, still busy! Keep a-movin' folks! Nuthin' to see here!
So.
I started school again on Jan 23 and then I went into full-on rehearsals for Pericles, Prince of Tyre on Feb 4. By full on, I mean, every night from 6:30 - 10:30 and big as-of-yet undefined chunks of time on upcoming weekends. This show OWNS me right now.
Luckily, rehearsals are going well. This show requires a lot of stamina. The pacing is quick. Rehearsals have been engaging, which I feel so lucky about. The time flies by when I am working - that's a good sign, right?
Speaking of time, I had something awesome happen to me on Tuesday morning. I overslept - but, oh, I really needed the extra sleep. I left my house TWENTY THREE minutes late to get to my voice lesson.
(Oh, did I mention? Amidst everything ELSE in my life, I've decided to take up voice lessons again. Huh, carry on.)
Well, I don't have a car. Like most New Yorkers, I am at the mercy of public transportation. Whoo, boy. I decided to take the train to 59th/Lex and then grab a cab from there. Except, the cabs that morning were not playin' my game! So I quickly decided to hop on the express bus to East 42nd Street and then grab a cab there.
"I'm going to W.37th and 11th, please."
The cab driver looked at me like he wanted to kill me.
"Across town? NOW?! ...Good luck."
"Thanks!" I replied with a big smile.
I sat back in the seat and closed my eyes. I thought,
"Dear Universe: I know you have bigger things to work on right now but if you could just send me a wrinkle in time right now so I can get to my voice lesson quickly, I would be so grateful!"
Y'all -- we crossed TEN long city blocks in SEVEN minutes.
The cab driver pulled up in front of my voice teacher's building and turned around in his seat to look at me with his eyes wide,
"That....? NEVER HAPPENS. That was...MAGIC."
